Spring/Summer 2011 Update
The rebuild of the third merlin engine which will be reinstalled on the #2 position continues. The engine is now reassembled and will be reunited with its engine mounts before installation of the Coolant tank and Radiator and oil cooler and associated pipework. The propellor is still being worked on and the carb has been sent out for repair. It is hoped that the engine will be mounted back on the Lancaster for the event on August 20th, with a possibility of the first engine run on this engine taking place in the fall.
The Bombdoor rams were removed and overhauled with new seals fitted to cure some minor leaks that had occured.
Flaps and bomb doors raised and closed for the first time in over 60 yrs!
