The Propellor has been removed from the #3 engine for inspection and rebuild (see news page)

Stbd inner propellor in its purpose built shipping crate

Overall view showing the missing propellor unit
The Lanc looks very strange with her Prop and cowlings missing. A little reminiscent of a battle damaged lancaster?(Photo c/o Dave Birrell)
The merlin looks so tiny without her cowlings
It amazes me that such a small engine in size could power a fully laden lancaster into the sky! (Photo c/o Dave Birrell)
Removing the cylinder Bank on Number 3 engine
The cylinder heads had to be removed to gain access to debris and dried out inhibiting oil in the bores.
After the bank was removed, debris in the bores could be clearly seen.
Fortunately there was no corrosion or major damage to be found.
Close up of dried inhibiting oil.
This is what 45 year old oil looks like when it is open to the air inside an engine!
